BA Programme in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (under development), University of Bergen, Norway
The University of Bergen is in the process of developing a 3-year (180ECTS credit) bachelor’s programme in PPE, which will have its first intake at the earliest in 2025. The programme is being developed by members of the departments of Philosophy, Comparative Politics, and Economics, and will be based in the Philosophy Department. The programme will consist mainly of courses already offered by each of the three departments in addition to two courses in Philosophy that will be exclusive to the PPE programme. The main language of the programme will be Norwegian, but some courses are likely to be taught in English.
PPE at the University of Oslo
The PPE program at the University of Oslo offers a three-year bachelor’s degree. The program is limited to 25 students per year. This leads to a close-knit, high-achieving, and ambitious group. Students complete core coursework in political science, philosophy, and economics before choosing one discipline to specialise in for advanced study. Regardless of their specialisation, students take an interdisciplinary introductory course, complete an interdisciplinary bachelor’s thesis, and enjoy at least 30 ECTS credits (a full semester) of free electives to deepen their specialism, explore another PPE discipline, or branch out entirely. Students also have the opportunity to go on exchange and to take a ‘practical course’ where they earn credits for a work placement at a relevant organisation. The introductory courses in the program are taught in Norwegian, but a subset is offered in English, and the university also offers many advanced courses (for second year students onwards) in English. Beyond the classroom, PPE at UiO is very social and activity filled. Senior students actively mentor incoming cohorts through social and academic events, and students frequently compete in an annual case competition and run their own journal.

PPE at the University of Stavanger
The University of Stavanger offers a one-year undergraduate programme in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (mostly in Norwegian). Introduced in 2026, the 60 ECTS credit programme is taught jointly by staff from the faculties of the Humanities, the Social Sciences and the University’s Business School. Students are offered introductory courses in Philosophy, Macro- and Microeconomics, Political Theory, Ethics and Moral Philosophy, International Politics, the International History of the Twentieth Century, Global Early Modern and Modern History and Ancient and Medieval History. Running in parallel with the courses are interdisciplinary panel discussions about current affairs entitled the PPE Forum. Students enrolled on the programme are offered a dedicated two-week Short Course Programme for Philosophy, Politics and Economics Students at the Norwegian Study Centre, University of York.
